Believed to be the oldest man in Dartmouth. Pierre Chiasson celebrated his 98th birthday yesterday. Mr Chiasson, described by his doctor as being as strong as a horse. Looked as healthy as many men 30 years his junior.

Born in Caraquet, N.B., Mr. Chiasson worked as a carpenter, fisherman and farmer untilhis retirement in 1937, at the age of 75. His wife died in 1942 and in 1944 he came to Nova Scotia to live with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. And Mrs. Elphege Theriault, of 8 Russell Street. He has stayed here since that time

Despite his years Mr. Chiasson is still active and likes to stroll about or chop wood. He is unable to attend church services but celebrated Mass with his family at his home yesterday with Rev. M. J. Laba officiating.

His second daughter, Mrs. Wilfred Glazier of Bathurst, N.B., is presently visiting Mr. Chiasson along with her husband and daughter Margaret. They were on hand yesterday to help him open presents from his son, 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
